Living in Southern California, and working for the beauty industry does not exactly lend itself to the daily thought that "beauty comes from inside", and it can sometimes be a struggle for me to remember that beauty comes in all different forms. As I'm feeling warm and fuzzy this Holiday season, I think it's a great time to remember what it is that makes us appreciate one another's inner beauty.
Not long ago, I asked our Facebook fans to comment on what they like about themselves. The responses were not physical, but more personality-oriented. Many added that they like their smile. Maybe that's because they feel happiest when they're smiling, or when people around them make them smile.
This holiday season, I dare you to look around and ask yourself why it is that you like the people you choose to surround yourself with. And, perhaps, take it a step further and share with that person, what you see in his or her inner beauty. Maybe you appreciate your boss, because he or she is candid and has a heart of gold. Maybe you appreciate your partner because he or she is kind, gentle, and rarely judgmental. Or perhaps it's your best friend, who takes you under her wing, no questions asked, in your darkest hour.
And most important, ask yourself what it is that you love about you. Look deep inside and remember your strengths. Take a break from being so critical about yourself. Look in the mirror and see that wonderful person, staring back at you. List your life accomplishments, don't dwell on the past, and embrace who you are, right now. And then, take some of that feel-good energy and spread it around a bit.
Have a happy, happy holiday season.
